Wisdom tooth removal

Wisdom teeth are the last molars to develop. Some erupt normally; others become impacted or cause problems. Removal is considered after assessing symptoms, tooth position and risks. All Care offers an examination to discuss whether monitoring or treatment is appropriate.

When removal may be considered

Repeated inflammation, decay, infection, damage to a neighbouring tooth or other identified problems may lead to a removal recommendation. A wisdom tooth without symptoms still needs individual assessment; extraction is not automatic.

02

Assessment and planning

An examination and suitable imaging help show the tooth’s position and nearby structures. The clinician explains the approach, anaesthesia options, benefits and risks, including possible effects on adjacent teeth or nerves.

03

The removal procedure

Some teeth can be removed simply; others need a surgical approach. The technique depends on the position and access. You receive instructions for the procedure and for care after the extraction.

04

Recovery and aftercare

Follow the clinic’s specific instructions for bleeding control, eating, cleaning and activity. Some swelling and soreness may be expected. Worsening pain, persistent bleeding, fever or increasing swelling should be reported to a dental professional.

YOUR QUESTIONS, EXPLAINED

Before your visit.

Do all wisdom teeth need removing?

No. Healthy, well-positioned teeth may be monitored. The decision follows an individual examination.

How long will recovery take?

The difficulty of removal and individual healing affect recovery. Ask what to expect and when to return for review.

What happens at my consultation?

Bring your medical history, current medicines and any previous dental records. The clinician examines your mouth and recommends tests or imaging when needed. You can discuss the proposed care, alternatives, timing, costs and follow-up before making a decision.
